But it does not tell you what type of thing to make it in, like a clr, win32, or general. I think he should have told us that it is hard to put it in right without knowing.

I think you're supposed to use an C++ IDE that has a compiler, i use bloodshed dev-c++ ide.

having read the second post here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090523012240AAIEtuH , i think it will be ALOT better to use an engine that already exists.

here we are talking about making our own game engine without the slightest knowledge of C++, i think we will be better off starting with a game engine that already exist.

alright, i'll find a book about the basics of C++ and start reading, and in the meantime we should find a game engine that fits the profile of the game we're trying to make.

I know but i don't know how i am supposed to do it so i can use it and there is not much support for it. Like the troll 2d which the support has some adult content not relating to the software there.

There is all kinds of support for IDEs! Just type in the code in the code window of your IDE and then compile! Not that hard really. :p

Hey milleja, let me clear something out for you, the engine will not make the game for you, its just something that will make the game runable, the engine will not have an IDE, you WILL have to put in the code yourself.

and for the compiling, learn by doing, i learned it that way, try to learn something on your own, instead of just asking for support

alright, to compile it you will need an IDE which can compile them, there should be a main C++ file in the folder, if there is, open it with an IDE and debug it, thereby it will be able to run, if the engine is supposed to run after debugged.


Bloodshed Dev-C++ has a compile and debugger, if you have it, you can compile/debug the engine, ask if you have further questions
